FY14 Spring Senate Meeting Proposed Bylaws Amendments

At the Spring Senate Meeting in Chicago this weekend your 3 region senators will be voting on the proposed bylaws amendments listed below.  As such, we need YOUR feedback.  Please read through the descriptions of each proposed amendment (located here) and then e-mail us and/or the region governor with your thoughts ASAP.  Thank for your help!

i.    S1403 – International Member Coordinator

ii.    S1405 – Bylaws Amendments Electronic Voting

iii.    S4106 – Collegiate Region Representatives

iv.    S1407 – Nomination Chair Election by BOD

v.    S1408 – Nominating Committee Deputy Chair

    Agree with S1403 – Region Gov and MAL president are elected positions and IMC is an appointed position, so should not be on same level as RG and MAL Pres. Should come out of the bylaws. Should position become similar to Region Gov. then should be in bylaws.
    S1405 – no comment
    S1406 – doesn’t this impact region bylaws? Still issue of representation of collegiate sections – that was just added now being taken out again. Do like defining the roles and responsibilities better. The entire structure of collegiates within SW needs to be addressed by task force.
    S1407 – no, doesn’t resolve perceived issue of pool of candidates, or competency. Nominating committee needs to remain independent of BoD.
    S1408 – yes. Nominating committee has been requesting this for several years. Need administrative assistant to chair. That is what this position should be.
